ResMed introduces first mask designed just for women

ResMed is the first company to release a nasal pillow system designed just for women with the market release of its latest mask, the Swift LT for Her. According to ResMed, it is the first mask designed specifically to address the 85 percent of women diagnosed with sleep apnea who feel they have special needs in mask choice.

In releasing the Swift LT for Her, ResMed said it was responding to an identified market demand, including trying to address issues that may be unique to women. The new mask may also address issues related to long hair in either sex.

The equipment manufacturer said the mask addresses issues, such as fit, as well as headgear issues, especially with regard to how some masks may pull hair or interfere with a hairstyle.

"ResMed strives to create exceptional products that maximize compliance by incorporating customer and patient feedback into product development," said Jennifer Baum, ResMed’s product manager for patient interfaces. "We recognized that female sleep apnea patients have unique needs and preferences in mask choice. The Swift LT for Her fulfills the need for a comfortable, high performance nasal pillows system specially designed for women."

With no forehead support and weighing only 2.3 ounces, the Swift LT for Her seals softly and securely to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep.

The Swift LT for Her incorporates the design of one of ResMed’s most popular masks, the Swift LT, and introduces specialized features for women. In redesigning the Swift LT, ResMed customizing its high-performance nasal pillows technology with features to address the unique preferences of women.

Featuring an adjustable back-strap, the Swift LT for Her may be worn over or under the hair to accommodate a wide range of hair styles in a soft, feminine print and light blue color. The mask also adds a new size nasal pillow, Extra Small, designed to fit more petite noses of some women.

The Swift LT for Her frame width is 50 percent smaller, making it perfect for women who prefer to sleep on their side, in addition to a rotating barrel to allow the woman to customize her best fit. The simple design makes it easy to fit and clean. The quietest nasal pillows system on the market, the Swift LT for Her offers a minimal, unobtrusive nasal pillows system that lets a female patient feel more like herself.
